Mary Graff Frantz Moore
Mary Graff Frantz Moore, of Willow Street, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and
sister, passed away early Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Lancaster General
Hospital following a long illness.
Born November 10, 1939, in Kittanning, Mary was the daughter of the late John
Graff and Suzanne (Gallagher) Frantz.
She was a 1957 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School and graduated
in 1961 from Gettysburg College with a bachelor of arts degree in English. She
was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
Upon getting married and moving to Willow Street, Lancaster County, she taught
second grade at Wharton Elementary School for several years.
She later achieved the career she always wanted, a homemaker, mother and
grandmother, a job at which she excelled. She loved nothing more that following
her grandchildren's activities and accomplishments. An artist herself, Mary
treasured music, art and literature and valued sharing time with friends. She
will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A lifelong Lutheran, she was an active member of Lutheran Church of the Holy
Trinity, Lancaster, for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward R. Moore; and her three
daughters, Carrie Louise, married to John G. Howell III, of Haymarket, Va., Ann
Elizabeth Shenk, of Rothsville, and Jennifer Suzanne, married to Brooke Schmoll,
of Havertown; eight grandchildren, Erin Gallagher Howell, John G. Howell IV,
Edward Moore Howell, Lindsay Suzanne Shenk, Emily Elizabeth Shenk, Nicholas
William Shenk, John Quintin Schmoll and Ryan James Schmoll; and a sister, Nancy
Suzanne, married to John Bedenbaugh, of Gainesville, Va.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at LGH for their many kindnesses and
support. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
