Edward L. Blose
Mesa del Caballo, Ariz.
Edward L. Blose, 71, of Mesa del Caballo, Ariz., passed away Sunday, March 22,
2009, at RTA Hospice Home in Payson, Ariz., after a long, courageous battle with
cancer. Ed was born April 7, 1937, in Craigsville, to Earl and Vivian Bowser
Blose. He graduated from Worthington West Franklin High School in 1955. On July
9, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Irene Bouch. Ed worked as a
service technician on data processing equipment until moving to Payson in 1984.
He’s been self-employed until his retirement. He was a dedicated member and past
president of the Zane Grey Twirlers Square Dance Club and was active in his
community, serving on the fire department board and the community center board.
He was instrumental in many community improvement projects, including street
paving, sewer improvements and developing a dog containment law. Ed was an avid
race fan and, when his health permitted, attended the supercross races his
grandsons competed in. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Irene; three sons, Ed
Jr., of Cottonwood, Ariz., Bob (Pam), of Phoenix, Ariz., and Chappy (Tammi), of
Peoria, Ariz.; grandsons, Ryan, Michael, Chris and Brandon; granddaughter,
Brittany; and two great-grandsons. He is further survived by two sisters,
Norieta (Ken) Wolfe, of Cowansville, and Hattie (Frank) Welnetz, of Bella Vista,
Ark.; one brother, Denny (Mardell), of Kittanning; also nieces and nephews; and
his faithful canine companions, Traveler and Dande. He was preceded in death by
his parents; brother, Bill; and sister, Donna. Ed was from an era when a
handshake or his word was a bond and his friendship was everlasting. He may be
gone but he certainly isn’t forgotten and never will be. Visitation will be from
4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at MESSINGER FUNERAL HOME, 302 W. Aero Drive, Payson, and
from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Payson United Methodist Church. Funeral service

N. Easy St., Payson. Interment will be at Mountain Meadow Memorial Park
immediately following the service. At the family’s request, memorials can be
