Omer William “Bill” Nichol
Worthington
William “Bill” Nichol, 40, of Worthington RD 1, died Saturday (September 3,
1977) of an accidental fall in the garage of his home.
Born November 17, 1936, in Worthington, he was the son of Omer W. and Ethel
(Shearer) Nichol. A member of the Worthington Baptist Church, he was employed at
the Reesedale plant of the West Penn power Company. He served in the U.S. Army
from 1954 – 1957.
Surviving are his wife, Sonya R. (Myers) Nichol; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Omer
W. Nichol of Worthington; sons, Stephen, Daniel, Barry, all at home; brothers
James K. of Eighty-four, Robert I. of Slate Lick; and a sister, Mrs. Harry
(Barbara) Piper of McGrann.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the James A.
Flick Funeral Home, Worthington, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the
Worthington Baptist Church, where service will take place at 2 p.m., conducted
by the Rev. Donald Lumeree, church pastor. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Burial
Estates, East Franklin Township. Arrangements by Flick.
Worthington Man Dies While Repairing Car:
A 40-year-old Worthington RD 1 man died of asphyxiation and carbon monoxide
poisoning while working on an automobile Saturday in a closed garage at his
home, according to Robert Welch, Armstrong County coroner.
Omer William Nichol was working on an automobile, that was running when he fell
over, apparently overcome by fumes. Welch said. He sustained bruises on his chin
and forehead in the fall.
His body was discovered by his wife at approximately 7 p.m. Efforts to revive
him were unsuccessful. Welch estimated the time of death at 6 p.m.
