Louis James Giff

Louis James Giff, 84, of Worthington, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his home.


He was born July 25, 1927, in Buffalo Valley, a son of the late James and
Florence (Smith) Giff.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa. 

He retired from US Steel Corp. in Saxonburg. 

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy as an electrician's mate third
class in the South Pacific. 

He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Slate Lick and served as a former
deacon at the church. 

He enjoyed hunting, yard work and was very active in his church. 

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Louise (Crawford) Giff; daughter, Joanie
Turney, of Kittanning; granddaughter, Sheena (Adams) Best, of Worthington;
stepson, Jim Turney, of Ford City; and sister, Grace Edgington, of Worthington.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Joe Turney;
and brother, George Giff. 

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL
HOME, Worthington, and 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday in the
funeral home with the Rev. Jonathan Hill officiating. 

Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to Union Baptist Church.
