Robert Paul Garis

Robert Paul Garis, 48, of Seventh Street, East Butler, died at 2:57 p.m.
Tuesday, March 12, 1974, at Butler County Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Born in Clarion County, August 6, 1925, he was the son of the late William M.
and Blanche M. (Shetler) Garis.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, PA. 

He was employed by Pullman Standard as a welding inspector.

He was a member of the East Butler United Presbyterian Church; East Butler
Volunteer Firemen, and William H. Miller Lodge 769, F and AM.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Doris Jean (Wolfe) Garis; a daughter, Karen
Lorraine Snodgrass at home; a son, David Allen Garis at home; a granddaughter;
two brothers, William M. Garis Jr. of West Seneca, N.Y. and Ernest C. Garis of
Worthington; a sister, Mrs. William (D. Maxine) Patrick of Houston, Pa., and a
number of nieces and nephews.

An infant sister, Rebecca, preceded him in death.

Friends of Robert Paul Garis of Seventh Street, East Butler, who died Tuesday,
March 12, 1974, will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
North St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Private funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday from the funeral home,
with the Rev. Dr. R. L. Throne, pastor of the Butler Baptist Temple,
officiating.

Masonic memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home,
by the William H. Miller Lodge 769, F and AM.

Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.

Robert Paul Garis, 18-year-old Worthington Bluejacket, was graduated with the
rating of fireman first class in recent ceremonies at the Naval Training School
(Diesel)at Navy Air Technical Training Center, Navy Pier, Chicago. He is now
eligible to qualify for the petty officer rating of motor machinist's mate third
class.
