Bette Larue Somerville Boyer

Bette Larue Somerville Boyer, 71, of Slippery Rock died Friday, May 1, 1998, at
the United Community Hospital, Grove City.

Born August 8, 1926, in Worthington, she was the daughter of Edward and Freda
(French) Somerville.

She graduated in 1944 from Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.

Mrs. Boyer was the secretary of the Economics and Business Department at
Slippery Rock University until her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, where she
had served as both secretary and president of the Women's Association of the
church.

She also was a member of the Slippery Rock AARP, and the Alamo Square Dance
Association in Armstrong County.

She enjoyed camping, square dancing, canoeing, cooking, baking, shopping, and
traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Lester "Les" Boyer, whom she married June 20,
1946; her mother, of Butler; two daughters, Mrs Chester (Judy) Talarczyk of
Berea, Ohio, and Janice Badger of Lakewood, Calif.; a son, Jack Boyer of
Slippery Rock; a sister, Mrs. Bernard (Bonnie) McGaughey of Fenelton; a brother,
Edwin Somerville of Fenelton; and six grandchildren.

Friends of Bette L. Boyer, who died Friday, May 1, 1998, will be received from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery
Rock. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with
the Rev. John Rickloff, Interim pastor of the Highland Presbyterian Church in
Slippery Rock, officiating.

Burial will be in the Slippery Rock Cemetery, Slippery Rock, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Presbyterian Church in
Slippery Rock.
