Virginia Jane (Ruffaner) Cook
Virginia J. Cook passed away January 14, 2010 at ACMH. She was born in
Yellowdog (Shadyside Village) PA October 23, 1924 to John Clair “Addie” and
Bessel Melissa (Edwards) Ruffaner and raised in Yellowdog and Worthington,
Pennsylvania.
She was a graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, class of 1942.
During her years in high school she played on the girl’s basketball team. She
was a former member of Union Baptist Church in Cadogan, PA. Mrs. Cook was a
homemaker and enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, caring for her pets and
watching the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games.
She was married to James H. Cook, Sr. on June 1, 1946. She is survived by two
sons and their wives, James H. Cook, Jr. (Faye Ann) and Rodney (Roseanne) Cook
both of Worthington. She is also survived by four grandchildren and their
spouses: Eric and Rebecca Cook of Wellsboro, PA, Erin and Dominic Ravotti,
Gregory Cook all of Worthington, and a step-grandson Brent Sinawski. She is
survived by a sister-in-law Leona Ruffaner of Worthington, and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James H. Cook, Sr. in
2005. A brother Greer Ruffaner, a sister Berneta Forester, and an infant sister,
Wilma Ruffaner.
Per the deceased’s request a private funeral service was held at the F. Duane
Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington, January 16, 2010 with the Rev. George Hall
officiating. Burial took place at the Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
