James Brown Graff

James Brown Graff, 86, of Carroll Valley, Pa., died Wednesday, January 20, 2010,
at the Gettysburg Hospital. 

He was born September 24, 1923, in Worthington, the son of the late Dr. James
and Helen (Wertz) Graff. 

Mr. Graff was a 1941 graduate of Worthington High School and received a degree
in ceramic engineering from Penn State University. While at Penn State, he was a
member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. 

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. For many years, he was
manager of the Baltimore Brick Company Plant in Rocky Ridge, Md. 

Mr. Graff loved animals and supported various humane organizations. 

James is survived by five children, Jay Graff and his wife, Karen, of Carroll
Valley, Archie Graff and his wife, Shawn, of Carroll Valley, Edmund Graff and
his wife, Nicole, of Fairfax Station, Va., Cari Graff-Cherry and her husband,
Michael, of Emmitsburg, Md., and Geri Duncan and her husband, Wayne, of
Woodsboro, Md.; 14 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. 

He was predeceased by a sister, Carrie Henderson, of Kittanning. 

There will be a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at MONAHAN FUNERAL HOME, 125
Carlisle St., Gettysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the
funeral home with the Rev. Christopher Frye officiating. 

Interment will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery, Fairfield, Pa. 

Memorials can be made to Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg.
