George Luketic Sr.
Cowansville
George Luketic Sr., 87, of Cowansville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at
his residence. He was born May 11, 1921, in Red Bank, the son of the late Peter
and Helen (Maestrovich) Luketic. He retired from Fawn Coal Mines in 1982. He
served in the Army in the Philippines and on several islands during World War II
with the 1st Cavalry Division, where he received a Purple Heart. He was of the
Catholic faith. He was a wonderful husband, father and pap, with a great sense
of humor. John Wayne was his idol. He was a Ford man and loved his truck. He
also loved fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Tarr)
Luketic, whom he married in October 1946; sons, George Luketic Jr., of
Cowansville, John Luketic, of Apollo, and Joseph Luketic, of Templeton;
daughter, Mary Jo Luketic, of Cowansville; nine grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; brother, Peter Luketic, of Cowansville, and sister, Millie
Luketich, of Kittanning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his two infant children; and brothers, Frank Luketic, Nick Luketich, Paul
Luketic and Mark Luketich. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Friday in the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Cowansville. Services will be held
at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Toy as celebrant.
