Formerly of Barnards
Carrie Audine (Lytle) Hayes, 88, of Dayton, formerly of Barnards, died
Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Kittanning Care Center. She was born Aug. 22, 1920,
in Worthington, daughter of the late Frank Harland Lytle and Jessie Whren
Fullerton. She worked at the Valley Drive-In for Otis Patterson. She was a
member of Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church and the Women's Church
Association, where she was past president and secretary and served as a deacon
for several years. She was also a member of Barnards Friendly Club, Waleta
Sunday School Class and Dayton Senior Center and was a 1938 graduate of
Worthington High School. She enjoyed calling bingo and socializing. She made her
home at Autumn Oak Personal Care Home in Dayton for the last two years, enjoying
the companionship of others. She married Harry Franklin Hayes June 3, 1939, in
Worthington, by Francis B. Marks. They enjoyed many anniversaries, through their
60th. Mr. Hayes preceded her in death Jan. 13, 2000. She was also preceded in
death by her sisters, Sara Straley and infant Grace Irene; and brothers, Jerome
and Ralph Lytle. She is survived by her stepsister, Ethel McElroy. She is also
survived by 10 nieces and nephews and several stepnieces and nephews; and was a
great-great-great aunt many times. She valued her friendship with the Patterson
family, especially the children, who were like her own. Not being blessed with
children of her own, Carrie shared that love with many children through nieces
and nephews and through the generations of other children of God through church
work. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the CARSON/BOYER FUNERAL HOME.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dayton Glade Run
Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mark Gaskill. Burial will be in Glade Run
Cemetery. |
