Catherine E. Snyder
Butler
Catherine E. Snyder, 92, formerly of Sunbury Estates, Butler, died Wednesday,
Jan. 2, 2008, at Evie's Country Care. Born Oct. 29, 1916, in Waynesburg, she was
the daughter of the late Owen R. and Ora L. (Bell) Fox. She was a homemaker and
also had operated Snyder's Upholstering Shop on Old Route 422, East of Butler,
from 1960 until 1985. She was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in
Butler, the Legion of Mary of St. Andrews, the Marian Guild of St. Andrews and
the Adult Church Choir. Catherine had also been a member of the West Sunbury
Rebekah Lodge No. 19 and was a life member of St. Theresa the Little Flower
Society of Lesieux, France, and DePere, Wis. Since 1932, her favorite hobby was
quilting and she had made many quilts for friends and family and had won several
ribbons at the Butler Fair. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth E. Snyder, of
Anderson, S.C., and David O. Snyder, of Butler; four granddaughters; and five
great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E.
Snyder, who died Sept. 13, 1989; one infant son; and one brother. Friends will
be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201
East Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10
a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 North Main St.
Extension, Butler. The Rev. Steven V. Neff will officiate. Interment will follow
in St. John Cemetery, Coylesville.
