Esther I. McGrady
Worthington
Esther Irene (Minteer) McGrady, 93, of Worthington, went to be with her Lord and
Savior peacefully Wednesday morning, May 13, 2009, at Armstrong County Health
Center. She was born on Nov. 19, 1915, in West Franklin Township, the daughter
of the late Warren and Ada Minteer. Esther was a devoted mother and grandmother
who worked very hard on the family farms. She was also employed by Holiday Inn
in Wexford. She did housework for families in the Kittanning area and
volunteered for the Easter Seal Society of Butler. She faithfully attended
Bright Hope Community Church in Meridian, loved her church family and reading
her Bible. Esther often could be overheard singing her favorite hymns. She
enjoyed homemade ice cream and eating out. She was a member of the second
graduating class of Worthington High School in 1933. She is survived by three
sons and one daughter, Richard (Karen) McGrady, Ronald McGrady, James (Debbie)
McGrady and Jean (Carlton) Simmers, all of Worthington area. She is also
survived by six grandchildren; 16 grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one
sister, Anna Kruggel, of Tucson, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Bernard McGrady, who died in 1971; three
brothers; two sisters; and one grandson. Friends will be received from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, Worthington.
Services at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with additional visitation one
hour prior to the service with Pastor Paul Hoover, her pastor, officiating.
Interment in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be
